The first weekend in March sees a change of football scenery for me.

A spa break for my wife and some of her friends was booked without looking at the AVFC fixture list and the clash with Hassenhutl’s marching Saints was overlooked.

I’ve been married long enough to know when to pick my battles and the Southampton fixture was one that in my mind I was reluctantly content with missing.

But as always in life. When one door closes another opens. Supplying the Mother-in-law with two beautiful grandsons are chips I’m always happy to cash in when the need arises. Although I can’t make the 200 mile trip north up the M5 to Villa Park, childcare is secured for me to take in relegation threatened Morecambe’s trip to Home Park to face Play Off chasers Plymouth.

I’ll be sitting with the Shrimps fans for the game and am really looking forward to witnessing Derek Adams’ return to South West Devon. I expect he’ll be treated with something approaching hostility from the Green Army but that’ll be water off a ducks back for the canny Scotsman.

As far as the match goes, I truthfully don’t know what to expect from Morecambe. I’m looking forward to seeing Cole Stockton in the flesh for the first time and also seeing how Jacob Bedeau has developed, I watched him a few times for Villa’s Under 23’s. I’ve more of a handle on The Pilgrims and know what to expect in terms of formation and style. I’ve been a massive fan of Cooper for a while now and Panutche Camara always impresses me.

It seems to me as an outsider that this is a massive game for Argyle. Following defeats against Cambridge & Rotherham they’ll be looking to get back on track against an opponent who haven’t won away since November and anything less than three points will be a serious dent to their promotion ambitions.
