The Allsvenskan season concluding, some players contracts in Sweden ending and the loosening of GBE criteria means that even if you've the smallest of transfer kitty's for the Janaury window you should be looking to this particular Nordic league to enhance your EFL squad as we approach the second half of the season.
Using information from transfermarkt and data/video from Wyscout, here's a couple of players to add to your notebook.
Deniz Hummet, 27 (Kalmar)
Deniz Hummet is a tall, phyiscal forward with good technique and a powerful right foot shot. Hummet came through Malmo's academy before moving to Troyes in France. He came back to Sweden with Gefle, onto Trelleborg and then Elfsborg. Whilst at Elfsborg he was loaned twice to Orebro SK before moving to Caykur Rizespor in Turkey. He returned to Sweden with Kalmar in March and had a succesful 2023 season scoring nine Allsvenskan goals, outperforming his xG of 5.06. 60.4% of his shots were on target, he doesn't score high in touches in box per 90. Indeed, watching video of him shows that he likes to get involved in build up play. He drops into the space between defence and midfield to bring others into play and he's a willing runner of the channels. Hummet would be a good fit at a number of Championship clubs in need of a forward in January. Blackburn Rovers and Plymouth Argyle come to mind as do Sunderland although he doesn't fit their transfer model of signing young.
Herman Johansson, 26 (Mjallby)
Herman Johansson has spent the last three seasons at Mjallby after signing from Sandvikens IF in 2021. His one season with Sandvikens seen him reach double figures for goals in the Swedish third tier which gained him his Allsvenskan move. Johansson is a right wing back come right midfielder with attack first intentions. He has great energy levels to get up and down the flank. He likes to hug the touch line, join in with forward play and gets into good crossing positions. His final ball is hit and miss and it's this area of the game that will limit his move options. I see him as a good fit for Rotherham.
