Plymouth Parkway 🟡🔵

Updated: May 31, 2022

Since I last blogged I’ve been to two matches, both at Bolitho Park, home to Plymouth Parkway of the Southern League Division One South.

On Saturday, Plymouth Parkway, looking for their ninth consecutive league win hosted a youthful Lymington Town side. Going into the fixture Parkway were two points behind league leaders Frome Town with two games in hand.

By coincidence my friend Clive, whose photography I mentioned in last weeks blog, was in attendance at Willand Rovers versus Frome at the same time so between the pair of us we had eyes on both title challengers.

Plymouth Parkway controlled possession and territory throughout the first half but ultimately couldn’t break through against the hard working Lymington outfit and the score at half time was nil apiece.

Just before the hour mark Parkway’s dominance paid off and they took a deserved goal lead but against the run of play Lymington equalised ten minutes or so later.

The leveller seemed to ignite Parkway back into life and with fifteen minutes to play they regained the lead from the penalty spot, two further Parkway goals in the final ten minutes gave the scoreline a more dominant look. Full time Plymouth Parkway 4 Lymington Town 1.

421 people in attendance at the game, a great figure considering Plymouth Argyle were hosting Oxford in a sell out League One fixture a couple of miles down the road.

A text to Clive reveals that Frome have beaten Willand 2-1 and the points difference at the top of the table remains as it were.

Tuesday night.

Plymouth Parkway v Evesham Utd. One of the games in hand for the home team. They know if they make it a tenth victory in a row they’ll go top of the table.

The first half plays out very similarly to the match on Saturday and its clear that Parkway are the superior side. The difference on Tuesday however is that in first half injury time they score and take a 1-0 lead into the interval.

Another great attendance of 546 for this Tuesday night affair and just as the crowd were starting to wonder if a second goal would come Parkway obliged and doubled their lead.

Evesham pose little threat from here on in and it’s a comfortable two nil for Plymouth Parkway. That’s ten consecutive wins, a wonderful achievement at any level of football.

PPFC now find themselves top of table with Frome a point behind having also played a game more. It’ll be interesting to see how Parkway cope now they’ve hit the peak.

The hunters are now the hunted.
